AI Notice

London Chronicle may use artificial intelligence (AI) and automated tools to assist with preparing, editing and publishing content. This notice explains their potential role and the standards that apply to their use.

How AI may be used

AI tools may assist with drafting articles, summarising source material, suggesting headlines, translating text, and improving spelling, grammar and readability. Automated systems may also support the formatting and publication of articles.

The extent of AI involvement may vary between articles.

Accuracy and editorial responsibility

AI tools can produce inaccurate, incomplete or outdated information. Their output should not be treated as an authoritative source on its own.

London Chronicle remains responsible for the content it publishes, including material prepared with AI assistance. Facts, names, dates, figures and quotations should be checked against reliable sources. AI must not be used to invent quotations, fabricate sources or present fictional events as genuine news.

Sources and attribution

Using AI to summarise or adapt information does not turn third-party reporting into original reporting. Source material should be represented accurately and attributed appropriately.

Articles must not imply that London Chronicle conducted an interview, witnessed an event or independently verified information unless that work actually took place.

AI-generated images and other media

Where AI-generated images, illustrations or other media are used, they must be clearly identified. Illustrative material must not be presented as an authentic photograph, recording or documentary record of a real event.

AI-generated visuals may contain inaccuracies and should not be relied upon as evidence.

Corrections and feedback

Readers who identify a possible error or misleading presentation are encouraged to contact London Chronicle. Please include the article’s web address, a description of the concern and any supporting information so that the issue can be assessed and corrected where appropriate.

Updates to this notice

This notice may be updated as our use of AI and automated tools develops.
